Elliott loves going to daycare – and with good reason: his daycare providers are absolutely amazing. They take such great care of all the children and go out of their way to make everyday fun. One of the daycare providers is celebrating her birthday so I thought it would be nice to make her a birthday cake.
One of the nice things of making non-commissioned cakes is that I get a chance to try out new techniques. I wanted the cake to have a vintage pretty vibe and thought painted roses would accomplish that nicely. Painting on cakes is not something I normally do. Actually I’ve only done it once, but that was with cocoa butter. This painted cake is painted with food colouring mixed with clear vanilla extract. I love how it turned out and I can’t wait to try other designs!
This cake is a Classic Vanilla Cake with Raspberry Buttercream.
Happy Birthday Dawna!
