I was asked to make a Métis themed birthday cake for a renowned Métis artist, scholar and community activist.  Beading, Métis sash and Fiddles are all things that are important to her and so, were incorporated into the design of the cake.  The Métis beading pattern piped on the side of the cake was inspired by artwork done by Christi Belcourt (another renowned Métis artist!).  The Fiddle and sash were sculpted out of modelling chocolate.  The cake had alternating Classic Vanilla cake and Classic Chocolate cake with Hazelnut Praline buttercream, Blackberry buttercream, and Chocolate buttercream.
