Miraculous Ladybug

One of the many shows that both my children love to watch on Netflix is Miraculous Ladybug so, it wasn't a surprise to me when Kingston told me he wanted a Miraculous themed cake for his birthday. I had 2 cakes to make for this party because we were celebrating Elliott's birthday together with Kingson's since Elliott's first party was limited to friends.  I decided to make a Tiki cake for Kingston and a Plaag cake for Elliott.  I love how both cakes turned out.  Figurines were made out of modelling chocolate. I also made Miraculous Ladybug and Chat Noir cookies for the

Aladdin

One of Elliott's favourite movies is Aladdin!  The release of the live action Aladdin movie lined up perfectly with his birthday so we knew a theatre birthday party would be the way to go for his birthday.  I decided to make a pillow cake in the theme of Aladdin.  To complete the look, I decorated the board to resemble the Magic Carpet in the movie and made a genie lamp topper out of Rice Krispy treats.  The genie smoke was made using cotton candy.  This cake was so fun to make and I absolutely love how it turned out! I also made

I was so happy to get a request for a Pikachu cake!  I've had this design idea in my mind for a while now and it turned out exactly as I had expected it to.  I love how simple this design is.  Pikachu is made with modelling chocolate. Happy 5th Birthday Kyle!

Cherry Blossoms

This Cherry Blossom buttercream cake was made for our family Mother's Day Celebration.  I made an eggless chocolate cake with alternating layers of Espresso Buttercream and Aquafaba Chocolate Mousse.  It was my first time working with Aquafaba and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.  I could not even tell it was chickpea brine.  I can wait to try more Aquafaba recipes!  I hand scraped the chilled buttercream to achieve the bark effect.  Then I piped the Cherry Blossoms, leaves, and branches.

Ombre Navy Bear Wedding Cake

2019-06-28T23:44:05-05:00May 5th, 2019|Cakes|0 Comments

This Ombre Navy Bear Wedding Cake was made for a lovely couple who wanted a unique wedding cake to wow but also mean something special to them.  They opted for a navy ombre wedding cake encrusted with silver dragees reminiscent of a starry night sky and a bride and groom bear topper in the style of figurines that the groom had purchased on a trip out west.  To personalize the topper further, I added a frisbee with their initials since the couple are avid Ultimate players.  The cake was a Banana Cake with Salted Caramel buttercream.  The toppers were made out of polymer

I love making 1st Birthday Cakes and this one was no exception.  I love the monochrome blue colours and the pops of green from the trees.  I love the height of the cake (it was a double barrel cake) which played nicely into the Mountain theme and I love how the lettering turned out!  This cake was a Classic Chocolate Cake with Blueberry Buttercream. Happy 1st Birthday Alexander!

Christmas Cookies 2018

This year I decided to make three sets of Christmas cookies.  The first set was for Elliott's and Kingston's classmates.  I made Santa Narwhals and Holiday Yetis.  I love how cute these turned out! The second set I made were for my coworkers.  I was inspired by Christmas Cards that I bought last year at the end of the season.  After seeing the card, I knew I had to make it into a cookie! Finally, the third set I made was for our neighbours.  I decided to make a set of Christmas Doors.  Living in an older neighbourhood, the doors are very much
