70th Birthday

2018-01-17T19:33:09-05:00December 9th, 2017|Cakes|0 Comments

This cake was made to celebrate a 70th Birthday highlighting all the different hobbies/interests that are dear to him.  I got details of his Ski Outfit, Motorcycle, and Bicycle so that I could replicate them as best I could with sugar paste.  I love how it turned out and am happy to say the recipient was floored!

Wedding Cupcakes and Cake

2018-01-21T17:28:02-05:00November 21st, 2017|Cakes, Cupcakes|0 Comments

Back in the summer I was asked to make wedding cupcakes along with a small cutting cake.  The bride's uncle made a lovely cupcake stand that complimented the cake and cupcakes so well.  The cupcakes were Vanilla with Blueberry/Raspberry Buttercream and Chocolate with Chocolate Buttercream.  The cutting cake was a Chocolate cake filled with Milk Chocolate Ganache.  To keep it simple and elegant, we went with a ribbon Vanilla Buttercream design for the cutting cake.  Beautiful photographs provided by Cara Chapman and Cecilia May. Congratulations Matt & Lindsay!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

PJ Masks is one of Elliott and Kingston's favourtie cartoons!  It's about 3 kids who turn into problem solving super heroes (Catboy, Owlette and Gekko) when they put on their pajamas and activate their animal amulets.  For this PJ Masks cake, Catboy, Owlette, Gekko and the moon were sculpted out of modeling chocolate.  All other decorations were made from fondant. Happy Birthday Chloe!

I was so happy when my niece picked a Num Noms theme for her birthday cake.  I've seen these little scented toys in the stores and have always thought they would make an amazing cake theme.  I decided to do another drip cake but this time I decorated the cake with Num Noms figurines that I made with Sugar Modelling Paste.  I also included fondant flowers, various chocolates, Pocky sticks, and candy for decoration.  This cake was a Vanilla Bean Cake with Lemon Curd and Raspberry/Blueberry buttercream. Happy 6th Birthday Norah!

Shimmer and Shine

2017-09-23T15:32:29-05:00September 23rd, 2017|Cakes|0 Comments

Shimmer and Shine is a cartoon about two twin genies-in-training who grant wishes to their best friend everyday.  The wishes don't always go as planned and so each episode is spent cleaning up the magical mess.  This Shimmer and Shine palace cake was made for a little girl turning 6.  The palace is made of Rice Krispie treats and then covered in fondant.  I used a strawberry flavoured ring pop for the jewel "bottle stopper".  I love how this cake turned out -the ring pop gives the jewel the perfect amount of shine!  This cake is a Classic Vanilla Bean Cake with Hazelnut Praline buttercream. Happy

Two-tti Fruitti

2017-09-17T22:24:17-05:00September 17th, 2017|Cakes|0 Comments

My cousin threw the sweetest party for her daughter's second birthday.  The theme was  Fancy Two-tti Fruitti. Guests were asked to put on something fancy and celebrate with the 2 year old cutie.  Little did we know the fancy attire was a lead up to a surprise pop-up wedding!  So what started out as a Two-tti Fruitti birthday cake, ended up doubling as a wedding cake as well!  All the figurines on the cake were hand sculpted out of edible modelling paste.  The cake was a Vanilla Bean Cake with Mango Buttercream for the top tier and Peach Buttercream for the bottom tier. Happy

I've seen these adorable unicorn cakes all over the internet and was hoping I could make one for someone.  Queue my niece's birthday.  It was so fun making this cake.  The horn, ears, and lettering were made out of fondant and then painted with gold lustre dust.  Everything else was buttercream.  I really love how the mane turned out! The cake flavour was funfetti with vanilla buttercream. Happy Birthday Leah!
