Dirty 30!

2017-04-21T14:42:28-05:00April 21st, 2017|Cakes, Cookies|0 Comments

My co-worker's daughter is turning dirty 30!  She was planning a martini themed party and asked me to make cookies and a cake.  I decided to decorate the cookies to look like drawn images of cocktails.  I also made smaller round scalloped cookies.  For the cake, I kept with the theme and put the green martini on top. Happy 30th Birthday Sarah!

According to Feng Shui, a fish represents wealth and prosperity because the actual word in Chinese for fish, in Pinyin: yú, 魚, also translates to “abundance” 裕 Pinyin: yù.  This year, I made both goldfish and lucky chinese coin cookies to celebrate the new year! Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!

These stork cookies were made to announce a pregnancy to coworkers.  I kept to three colours to keep a theme but created interest by texturing some of the storks and painting the hearts with lustre dust.

A friend of mine owns TYTAN, they design beautiful and affordable custom ties and bow ties for weddings & special events.  They were hosting an event to showcase some of their new designs, and asked me to make some cookies for the big day.  I made my melt-in-your-mouth Shortbread Cookies and iced them with royal icing before applying an edible image of the TYTAN logo.  I love how they turned out - simple and classy. My Little Pony, My Little Pony Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahhh... I loved My Little Pony as a little girl and was so happy to see them make a come back!  I find the next generation ponies much cuter with their big anime eyes!  I was asked to make a cake and some cookies for a My Little Pony/Skylanders party.  For the My Little Pony theme, I made a cake with a Rainbow Dash topper.  Rainbow Dash was sculpted out of modelling chocolate as was the rainbow.  The clouds are made out of fondant.  The cake is a Classic Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream
