I was asked to make farewell University of Guelph cupcakes. I wanted to create a mix of designs and decided on simple Thank You plaques, Begging Bear sculptures and Old Jeremiah Cannons.
The Begging Bear is a 7½-foot-tall sculpture that has become a beloved icon to not only University of Guelph student, but also to the residents of Guelph. The bear can often be found decorated or dressed up, making it a must-see for passersby on Gordon Street.
The cannon, named “Old Jeremiah”, is a British naval gun, rumoured to have been used in the War of 1812. It is a long-standing Guelph tradition for students to paint the cannon with messages in order to promote events and organizations.
The cupcakes were a Classic Chocolate with Vanilla buttercream. All decorations were made with modelling chocolate.
